1920 to 1940, Chinle weavings emerged during what
became k
nown as the Navajo Revival Period. Leon H. (Cozy)
McSparron
of Chinle Trading Post inspired the weaving desig
along with Ma
ry Cabot Wheelright.
In their first efforts, t
he Chinle rug weavers developed soft hue
browns, golds and gree
ns. These colors woven into banded,
borderless rugs resulted in
the new Chinle regional style.
