Th
e Ganado weaving is one of the favorites of collectors, and
be co
nsidered the “classic” design.
Like other
weavings influenced by traders, this design was
influenced by
Trader John Lorenzo Hubbell, and it is named a
the little town of
Ganado, home to the historic Hubbell Tradin
Post.
Hubble sold these to peop
le back East through a catalog.
Sometimes they are just calle
d a “Ganado Red.”
As the one shown here, they typical
ly are red, black and grey,
a central diamond. Again, the Four S
acred Mountains are
prominent in the design.
